imagine this bubble burst
sitting inside as the walls collapse
imagine the look on your face
the moment you realize that it’s not death it’s the opposite
you’re leaving a paper trail
wherever you go it’s in some file
you sleep in the waiting room
but they got surveillance too
you kneel on these hard wood pews
somebody’s watching over you
you’re life is a neat little pile
remember there’s someone at your side
so try hard to see all the benefits
and try not to leave while your heart still beats
and isn’t it comforting
to know what your pilot thinks
to know that your house still stands
to open your mouth and sing
to hear you pick up the phone
to know you’re still there when i put it down
to know that the world outside is cruel and is beautiful
at the same time
and a dozen voices sing
in my drunken head again
and they’re drowned out by noise
they’re making building skyscrapers
